This is a fascinating look at human impact on marine ecosystems. All natural systems undergo stress; all natural systems engage in macro-adaptation. This map shows that large impacts are being made on an ecosystem that we hardly understand, at the micro-level. What adaptations will this ecosystem make that impact humans, and what do those changes mean for our future?

The oceans have always been the ultimate destination of wate matter from land. Works of man have reduced that flow.
