New assault on our Bill of Rights! - Frightening!

Original post made by Jag Singh on Feb 12, 2008

The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security is quietly expanded its reach by entering into a collaborative arrangement with representatives from private industry. According to the editor of The Progressive, Matt Rothschild (author of 'You Have No Rights: Stories of America in an Age of Repression'), 23,000 companies have now formed a shadowy group known as InfraGard,. including 350 of the Nation's Fortune 500 companies.
These company representatives receive terrorist threats directly from the FBI and report information about disgruntled employees to the FBI. Such two-way reporting often bypasses law enforcement and State officials. In one stunning incident, Governor Gray Davis of California received a perceived threat to California bridges from his brother who was in InfraGard and not from the FBI. The potential for abuse is staggering. What is even more disturbing is the carte blanch permission given by the FBI to InfraGard to use lethal force in the event of martial law or an emergency. Under such conditions, InfraGard would be 'deputized' by the FBI to conduct law enforcement activities with complete impunity. Such gross misuse of our tax dollars is insane and must be halted. This is yet another example of how our Bill of Rights is being usurped by an over intrusive administration. I urge concerned readers to contact their legislators and demand this 'wild west' program be aborted.

What right does this threaten?

Gun control is an assault on the bill of rights. This article must be very current given that Gray Davis hasn't been the governor in several year.

I had long ago concluded that the Progressive is the National Enquirer of politics.

What specific right does this specific action threaten as a new threat? " InfraGard would be 'deputized' by the FBI to conduct law enforcement activities with complete impunity" suggests the FBI can grant authority it does not posess itself.

Jag

Sorry about the lack of interest in the bill of rights, but we're preoccupied with getting our kids back onstage at the Children's Theater at the moment. Would you kindly post this again in a few weeks?
