My 6th grader came home from school with a pamphlet from the race and said they had an assembly that explained the race and discussed bike safety. He told me all the things he learned about safe biking, and I was very impressed! Now he has our whole family excited about going to watch the race on Sunday.

I hope that they funnel all the car traffic for this race down Embarcadero Road.

Are the racers going into all the schools?

As a member of the School and Neighborhood Outreach committee, I tried to get professional racers to come to the schools for the 6th grade presentations. The request went in, but the race organization did not deliver any racers. Instead we had amateurs from the Stanford racing team and the local Metromint racing team.

maybe the racers are too busy hobnobbing with the "in crowd"in palo alto, like the former mayor who is milking this event for personal publicity.

needless to say, this is another great oppurtunity to throw on some spandex and
get outside to do some serious posing!

Don't miss out on the discussion!
