Meeting on MI- lottery & program at Ohlone this Wed.

Original post made by Interested parent on Jan 29, 2008

I noticed in the Daily on Sunday under the topic of Briefs that there is an open meeting at Ohlone MP room, 950 Amarillo this Wed. at 7:30 p.m. School officials will be there to discuss the MI program and its lottery. It would be really good for people to go. If you can't go please pass this info on to others who may. It says for more info call 856-1726.
If anyone goes, could they then report Online what was discussed?

Thanks.

Sorry I won't be there. MI has already disrupted classes and activities at Ohlone and will continue to do so. What a shame this special interest group is detracting from a great school that has been the result of so much dedication for all these years.

Parent,
Thanks for your response. I hope that someone went and will let us know what transpired at the meeting.
What do you mean that MI has already disrupted classes, and activities at Ohlone?

Thanks

A bunch of English-speaking leaders spent most of the time discussing the Ohlone way, and how it is superior.

At the end, there were questions, which attempted to get to the MI issues. They said they would post the questions and answers on the Ohlone website. Most of the questions were answered by the handouts, which are on the Ohlone Website as well.

There is a lot of work to do before the beginning of the year. It appeared to me that they had no clue how it would work (or any clue about Mandarin). I hope they can get it together.

Mother,
Can you post a link to the MI handouts on the Ohlone website? I looked there and couldn't find them. Thanks.

There is a write up on the meeting on the Daily's website, but my skills are not good enough to provide a link. Look up Palo Alto Daily News and it is on the front page today.

Interesting, doesn't sound like there's an essay requirement.

They talked about Ohlone because that is what they know about. They should not have to be talking about MI because this is an american school. The teachers and staff are trained to be inclusive of all students and cultures in this great melting pot, the United States, and are not experts in any single one. What a shame it is to put these wonderful professionals in such a position. Another example of how inappropriate it is to force this program on a school
