Superbowl Commercials - are they watched worldwide?
Sports, posted by Sports Fan, a resident of Another Palo Alto neighborhood, on Jan 22, 2008 at 6:49 pm

All the hype has started about the superbowl, not the game but the commercials. It is reported to be the most watched sporting event worldwide, a statement I doubt as I am sure that world cup soccer games are watched by more and perhaps even the European Cup Final or the British FA Cup Final is more popular.

However, my thoughts are really whether the superbowl is shown all over the world with the American commercials or do the local countries show their own commercials, considering this must be quite a low audience in most countries?

How can they make the commercials this year with the writers' strike?

The superbowl shown all over the world??? I very much doubt it. American football is hardly known outside the US.

If you want to talk about a sporting competition watched worldwide, let's talk about the real football (a.k.a soccer) world cup. Now that's a worldwide event.

I know a lot of people outdside US who follow football on regular basis, they ara as apassionate as any fan from any city!!

I've been to Mexico and Holand, and there are a lot of fans!!

Lets cut the speculation... Do any one know for sure which event has the highest rating worldwide? I know in the US its the SuperBowl with 64 pts. even the year with worldcup, the highest event is the SuperBowl
