Clean House at City Hall - Baum next on the list

Original post made by Araj Turos, Downtown North, on Nov 30, 2007

Anyone who paid any attention to the election campaign realize there are many disaffected citizens in Palo Alto. The Council has understood that change at the top of the City staff was a necessary first step. Replacing Gary Baum as City Attorney is the next, equally necessary, step. His list of accomplishments include fighting the Weekly to prevent release of embarrassing investigations into incompetent mismanagement, lawsuits revealing personnel harrassment in his own office, squandering millions of Utilities reserve money on the Enron settlement. And the list goes on. Baum has not provided the legal leadership and guidance required by the City, and it is time for a change.

The only problem with "cleaning house" is you might get something worse. I advocate taking little steps, one person at a time!!

I can think of a few citizens that it would be a pleasure to help move out of town.

Mr. Turas. How did the election campaign prove there were a lot of disaffected citizens in Palo Alto?

While I am not a fan of Mr. Baum, I believe it was the City Council who had final approval on the money given to Enron.

Ms. Harrison has been abrasive at times, she has kept the ship afloat and been more helpful to residents' concerns than Mr. Benest.

Don't miss out on the discussion!
