When cooking a turkey can really bomb

So...was there any advice on how to do it RIGHT? And what kind of extinguisher to have on hand ( since water is clearly out)?

Thanks.

A good multi-purpose fire extinguisher (ABC) is good for most fire types. Class K is specifically for cooking oil fires.
OSHA has a good web site on extinguishers: Web Link

Remember "PASS" to use extinguisher:
P - Pull the safety pin
A - Aim the nozzle at the BASE of the fire, from a safe distance (4 to 10 feet away)
S - Squeeze the handle
S - Sweep the extinguisher from side to side while aiming at the base of the fire

If safe, you can try to cover and smother.

Thanks, that is what I thought, ABC, but just checking in case I am out of date.

I had a first hand demo at the home of a volunteer firefighter in the Santa Cruz mountains a few years ago. He poured water on what was a small grease fire IN a pan on his stove. Sliding a lid on the pan would have been a better choice. His idea was not so good.
