Great one-woman show at The Pear
Around Town, posted by TheaturLuver, a resident of the Evergreen Park neighborhood, on Jul 22, 2006 at 12:32 am

Saw Diane Tasca tonight at the Pear avenue Theatre in Belle of Amherst-- a one-woman show about the life and love and poety of Emily Dickinson. sounds boring, but it wasn't! Tasca is a really fine actress, and thie is a tour de force performance. Anyone who has any interest in Dickinson, or in great acting, should go see it.

I was at the Pear this evening. What a fantastic tour-de-force production!

This superbly directed one woman show has the amazing Diane Tasca playing the character of Emily Dickinson.

Tasca gives her all as she plays the detailed interior and external emotive life of Dickinson, channeling the great poet in what has to be one of the best and most moving performances I have seen among a host of superb performances at the Pear - a wonderfully intimate theatre that has quietly become one of the Bay Area's top live theatre venues in the last 5 years. I've yet to see anything less than excellent at the Pear.

If you love Emily Dickinson's ouvre, and want more insight into her work - or even if you've never heard of Dickinson, go see this amazing, first-rate performance. You'll not only learn a lot about Dickinson, but about the universal human condition as well...i.e. "life".

In performance after performance, for five years, the Pear Avenue Theatre has been delivering a consistent dose of what theatre should be - compelling, moving, superbly crafted, informative, and accessible. Keep it up, Pear!
