Rumsfeld appointed to Hoover, Stanford wins a big one. Serendipity?

I think the fact that the petition to oppose Rumsfeld is doing so poorly, and the Stanford win vs. USC, MUST , somehow, be connected. Is it the truth gods? There IS some magic in the air!

Is Stanford waking up?!

Hoover is a laughing stock; some of that is rubbing off on Stanford's President, Dr. Hennessy - and deservedly so. This is not a free speech issue, it's about caving to powerful interests that keep federal money pouring into campus. Stanford is - for all intents and purposes - without a moral compass at the top.

May I recommend a book or two by David Horowitz..a former left-winger ( as in far left..member of Communist Party) who has come around..about academia.

The ProFessors - The 101 Most Dangerous Academics in America Paperback edition 2007 ( it addresses some of the "criticism" of it in this edition)

Indoctrination U - The Left's War Against Academic Freedom

Was it Stalin who said "Give me your children for a generation in school and I will rule the world" or something like that? That is a very loose memory of what is probably an urban legend..but it is still an appropriate summary.

It explains a lot of what we are seeing in the kind of thinking at universities..
