Is this a ploy to getting us believe that the City is spending money on infrastructure just one month before the election.

I drive and walk Middlefield quite a bit, but didn't think the road was in too bad shape compared to some of the sidestreets and sidewalks around town.

I have seen the no parking signs and will do my best to avoid Middlefield. I feel sorry for those who live on Ross, unfortunately I think a lot of people like me will be using your street instead of 15 min. delays on Middlefield. Sorry.

This article mentions both a south and a north entrance to Cubberly.

I am only familiar with the entrance at the traffic light at Montrose and Middlefield .

What other entrance is there via car to Cubberly ?

At which street is the south entrance they are recommending ?

thank you

The north entrance to Cubberley is directly behind the Charleston Center Shopping Center. It is not a through road, but basically just an entrance to parking on the north side of the community center. Also, the resurfacing isn't just along Middlefield and Charleston, but on Colorado, from Alma to the frontage road. The author has some of her facts incorrect. They are also resurfacing High Street south of Whole Foods.....that downtown area is going to be a mess.

Sounds like huge areas of the City is going to be a mess. Maybe we should all hibernate for a while as it is going to be rough getting about. And, do I read it correctly that they will be working on Saturday and Sunday? Most city workers don't work weekends (including every other Friday). This must be putting the cost up somewhat.

The first commenter is incredibly cynical. This is actually an attempt to be efficient and save money. A lot of streets have had parts dug up and patched for utilities projects, etc. Colorado was fixed many months ago, and could have been re-surfaced then. By waiting until a lot of streets are ready and doing them all at once the city saves money over doing them one at a time. This work will likely not be done by Palo Alto employees, but by contractors with oversight from Palo Alto project managers and inspectors.

Middlefield has been bad today, Saturday. The loose chippings were left for cars to deal with rather than being tidied up. There were so many cones that no one seemed to know what to do. Were they lane markers or were they supposed to be closing down a lane. It was not apparent. The flaggers, where they were did a reasonably good job, but where they were not it was too difficult to find out what we were supposed to do. Are they behind schedule, because nothing seemed to be happening until today.

Rather than finishing the work as scheduled on Sunday, when there was a lot of work being done, the work is as of lunch time Monday unfinished with the only signs of work a couple of trucks moving cones!

As far as I can see, there are no lane markers which makes it confusing, plenty of loose chippings and dust, and many confused bicyclists, bus drivers and residents, all not knowing what is going on.

For those of us who do have to use Middlefield, caution is my best advice.
