Shout out to PASCO
Around Town, posted by JSD, a resident of the Palo Verde neighborhood, on Sep 18, 2007 at 10:11 am

We seem to be in a habit of only complaining about what we don't like/what needs to be fixed in Palo Alto, so I'm going to point out a positive.

I'd like to just take a moment to give a shout out to the PASCO workers I see every Tuesday morning collecting the garbage and recycling in our neighborhood. Without exception, the workers I have encountered are friendly, cheerful, helpful, and extremely hard working. Bravo!

I grew up in a city where the garbage collectors were city employees. My biggest surprise when I moved here was seeing the collectors running about their business. They do a good job.

I agree PASCO does a very efficient job. However, they should, because their monthly trash collection rates are huge and keep increasing.

Sometimes I forget to put the trash container curbside. Those gents, always, without fail come up to the house and get it. They are getting a big tip for the holidays. Yay PASCO!

We have lived in two different states and at least six different cities.

The rates are comparable for trash and electric.

The added benefit of having top of the line recycling available is a bonus and is well worth the incremental added cost (if any).

Many cities and states simply do not have the facilities to handle this high level of recycling like we do, but they charge nearly the rate for basic trash services.

Thanks PASCO!

PASCO is cool! I am constantly amazed at the efficiency of this group. They do their job every week, without fanfare. every organization should run as efficiently as PASCO does.

Further, the recycling collecters are amazing to watch in their efficiency.

Last, I like what "qq" said about tipping those guys. There is another thread about tipping in this forum; "qq" is one person who gets it.

I will be joining qq in tipping the PASCO guys this year.

You're AMAZING, guys - keep it up!
