Can I blame it to the raccoons?StPXV

Original post made by Ingrid SHU, College Terrace, on Jul 13, 2013

A non-profit organization comes to our neighborhood once a month to pick up items we would like to donate to their cause.

Last month, I put out a bag of items the night before the collection date, when I woke up the next morning, the bag has been ransacked, and a pair of sneakers has been gone.
This time, I used a box to put in the items, and tape it with duct tape. Unfortunately, the box was ripped open and though the contents have been scattered around , nothing was missing this time. They were all household items.

What can I do to prevent this happening again? Would it be the raccoons that took the sneakers?
