This new sports web site is off to an excellent start. It's great to be able to read a timely and reasonably detailed article on Paly's opening football game, and having the full 2007 schedule is an added bonus. Keep it up, and GO VIKES!

hey hansen blow the dust off your playbook and open it up a little bit for your athletes. you can't run the 16 power every other play, teams caught onto that in the 90's man

Yes, Paly has won some games, but it has not been through some innovative version of the spread offense. It has been man-on-man stuff. Very old school, and very effective, IF one has the horses. Earl designs his offense in the weight room. He is old school, pretty much. Woody Hayes come to mind? Having said this, Earl probably wins more than if Bill Walsh was coaching the team. It would just be more fun to watch Walsh lose, than Hansen win.

I'm not an expert in the X's and O's, but it sure seems like Paly's most visible teams - football and basketball - are well coached. Their recent success at the state level is not just a matter of talent, but the discipline and team concept that the coaches seem to have built. The championship basketball team was so unselfish and cohesive. The football team obviously excelled the past couple years. Then this week, the fact that they could step off the bus so late for a road game, their first of the season, against a quality opponent, and then take care of business on the field - very impressive!
