Original post made by David, Another Palo Alto neighborhood, on May 4, 2013

Was there an early morning fire in the Palo Alto foothills near Portola Valley? Los Trancos Road?

Just before 7 this morning sheriff's deputies and callers reported smoke and flames. I heard less than an acre was burned in the slow moving fire. I'm surprised that neither the PAFD not PAPD put out any report via their social media. Perhaps they are still investigating or are embarrassed by the location and origin of the fire.

Los Trancos Road is in Portola Valley, not Palo Alto. What agency responded to this?

Per the PA Open Space FB page ...

"Big thanks to Palo Alto Fire Department, Calfire, and Woodside-Portola Valley Fire Protection Foundation for knocking down a little thing that could have become a big thing."

It was a small grass fire in Foothills Park - no word on its origin.
