Mtn. View arts committee chair resigns after disputed comments

Before City Council members could vote to remove or censure him Tuesday night, Chris Parkinson resigned his post as chair of the city's Visual Arts Committee.

This is another example of how local governments have become politicized into a larger world view, and have lost focus of their main role of providing essential services at reasonable costs, and not infusing any kind of regional, or national, or international politics into the delivery of these services.

There is no doubt a significant back-story surrounding this incident not provided by this article--there always is.

Nonetheless, this is an ugly incident.

Closeted bigots can only hold it in so long. Glad that this guy was exposed before he held a more serious position.

I remember back when I used to the go to Foothill College my old English professor Ron Ingalls (may he rest in peace) used to remind people of this all the time ... it's Mountain View, not Mount View! Thanks for bringing that memory back "blessing".

That is deeply disturbing. The sad thing is that there are probably far more people than we realize with such bigoted views.
