Flag flys over King Plaza at Palo Alto City Hall

Perhaps the ignorance of city leaders to recognize and fly a "rainbow" flag that has no official law or governmental recognition of validity and was created by a street vendor to simply line the pockets of those individuals selling them on street corners might prevail, however, if the council really wants to make a statement of national importance they may choose the POW/MIA flag to support those families with missing sons and daughters.
The irony that City Council chose to fly the "rainbow" flag at King Plaza, a site they claim recognizes civil rights, is sadly lost with the fact that the City of Palo Alto does not recognize Martin Luther King Day (passed by the Reagan Administration in 1983) as a national holiday observed on the 3rd Moday of January and refuses to give city employees the day off in respect to Martin Luther King.
Apparently city council's civil rights concerns only apply to whatever bandwagon shows up in town that may fit into their dysfuntional agenda.
