Couldn't the Weekly have written a more fawning article than this.

Have to laugh at some of the comments:

-"Scharff managed to fight his battles with a smile on his face "

-"he has managed to be assertive without apparently alienating any of his colleagues"

-"He has been the council's happy warrior, always eager to take a strong stance, offer a counterargument and spar with opposition"

And there are many more.

How about pointing out that Scharff and the council have still not addressed our infrastructure backlog, have not addressed parking concerns in the city and other issues that have been around for years. What Scharff and the council are good at is hiring consultants and congratulating each other on a "job well done".

All style and no substance.

If anyone had any doubts about the Weekly's role as a "news source" i think that this ridiculous article should lay those concerns to rest.

Every year at this time you can count on the city council to spend plenty of time singing each other's praises and lecturing everyone on what a good job they have done. Meanwhile, what about our infrastructure issues?? Will the library ever be finished. What about traffic issues?

How much do these people spend of our moneyon consultants each year?

Then when you point out our financial woes--we hear about how the council was "misled" (Larry Klein's famous excuse).

The fact that we keep re-electing people like Klein and Kniss to the city council does not say much for us.

BTW, the above article should have been labeled as an Op-ed or as an advertisement, since it really is not news. I can understand why Gennady can not get a position at a real newspaper.
