Stevenson House Seniors Collect Over 100 Lbs. of Food for Downtown Food Closet
Around Town, posted by Stevenson House Senior Living, a resident of the Greenmeadow neighborhood, on Dec 24, 2012 at 10:49 am

Senior residents at Stevenson House recently held a food drive for the holidays. More than 120 residents participated, donating over 100 pounds of canned and non-perishable food during the 10-day food drive. What was originally a gift-wrapped donation box grew to a 64-gallon overflowing container.

For over 40 years, Stevenson House has been a valuable community resource for affordable, independent housing for low-income seniors. Seniors at Stevenson House come from diverse cultures and backgrounds across the globe, and their food donations reflected these differences. In addition to the food drive, these seniors give back to the community year round in many ways…from knitting caps for cancer patients to working with local students to making handcrafted goods for other fundraisers.

This week, the donations will be delivered to the InnVision/Urban Ministry Downtown Food Closet located at All Saints Episcopal Church in Downtown Palo Alto to help others. The Food Closet serves more than 200 people every week.
