Synchronize the Traffic Light, Please!
Around Town, posted by No more gridlock, a resident of the Old Palo Alto neighborhood, on Dec 13, 2012 at 2:47 pm

When, if ever, will the new traffic light on Alma just north of the one at Meadow be synchronized with the other two in the vicinity?

This causes murderous traffic jams in both directions during a.m. And p.m. Rush hours. Sometimes the traffic back up to San Antonio in the northbound direction, and a couple of times a week there is a gridlocked intersection as a result. It is really slowing down the commute for those of us who have to take Alma to and from work.

This traffic light really wasn't needed any more than any of the other side streets off Alma need one. Why did this spot get one when there are other spots that do need it, such as California Ave? The argument given by the City Council is bogus, as there is NOT much cross traffic at that spot. Most of the side streets off Alma have more: more cars, more residences.

This is only going to get worse and worse as more and more people come to Palo Alto to live and work!
