Does the Library have multiple member categories?
Palo Alto Issues, posted by pa_mom, a resident of the Midtown neighborhood, on Dec 10, 2012 at 2:53 pm

I was going to ask this from a Librarian next time I was in the Library, but thought I'll ask here as well (in case someone already knows)

While looking for the availability of a book, I noticed that one of its three copies was loaned out till 02/15/2013 (Web Link)

Given that the Library website says that the loan periods are

"All materials are checked out for 4 weeks (28 days), except for DVDs, which are checked out for 2 weeks (14 days), and the last 6 months of magazines, which are checked for one week (7 days)."

(Web Link)

Any thoughts how this is possible?

Thanks!

Not sure if this is accurate, but maybe:

There may be multiple holds on the item. Say there's 3 people in line to reserve it after the person who currently has it. The due date will be the 4 weeks the 3rd person will have when he finally gets it. That's why the due date is out so late.
