Gunn Oracle Rejects Teacher Advisor System Schools & Kids, posted by Listen to the children, a resident of Another Palo Alto neighborhood, on Nov 5, 2012 at 5:29 pm
In today's Gunn's newspaper's editorial, Gunn students were clear -- they do not want Paly's teacher advisory system to come to Gunn.
"Adoption of a Teacher Advisory system is not what The Oracle staff had in mind when the consultant survey showed a satisfaction discrepancy in guidance service quality compared to Paly. Instead, the emphasis lies in revamping both systems accordingly, and providing comparable services not necessarily by exchanging 'best' practices, but by defining a metric that both schools will reach."

The students may say they don't want TAs, but they probably need them. They are still immature enough not to know what they need, as opposed to want they want.
There is obviously something wrong with their counseling system, and a change is called for. If it isn't TAs, it must be something equally as effective.

That's wonderful! When the children of Dauber's WCDBPA say vote for him it's all we should listen to our children. When students at Gunn say what they want it's all they're too immature and don't know what they are talking about.

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the Gunn students given the not so favorable things that the Paly students say about their TA sessions -- only 33% thought they were valuable.
According to students, Gunn's guidance program trumps Paly's on some key measures:
Gotten to know students well: 59% Gunn compared to 53% Paly
A valuable resource for students: 72% Gunn compared to 57% Paly
