Woman steals purse, spends $2,000 at Nordstrom

A woman walked into a downtown Palo Alto office building, stole a change purse from a desk drawer and promptly went on a $2,000 shopping spree at Nordstrom, a Palo Alto police spokesman said.

If it weren't so shocking it would be funny. I suppose if I sudenly came into free money, the first place I would go to is Nordy's.

This happens in offices more than you might think. People need to be more proactive in their own surroundings.

Even at Nordy's, she would have to be vigilant and buy things on sale!

This fits the description of the thief who stole my wallet out of my purse while I was eating at Siam Royal 2 weeks ago, then went on a several thousand dollar shopping spree at Target & Walmart. Note: She was able to use my credit cards despite my picture being on 2 of the cards, and despite her large purchases. NOTHING can prevent a thief from using your credit cards - not a picture on the card, not a note for the cashier to check ID - if the cashier doesn't even look at the card, and it seems that increasingly cashiers are not being required to do so!
