SFO cancels some flights to East Coast

More than a dozen flights to and from the East Coast have been cancelled this morning as Hurricane Sandy moves toward that part of the country, a San Francisco International Airport duty manager said.

.....because hurricane Sandy is a huge, huge storm, and growing by the minute. It reaches from northern Florida all the way to southern Massachussetts. People in Manhattan have been evacuated, because the island is so low-lying that it will probably flood.

Sandy appears to be bigger in size than Katrina, and is hitting more highly populated areas. It is still picking up force. The potential for devastation could be more intense than Katrina, if the storm keeps getting more powerful.

FEMA is going to be overwhelmed by this one.
