Thank you for solving the mystery of what "El Grullense" means! I have been wondering ever since I moved here a year ago. I wonder literally every time I pass an El Grullense Taqueria, and since I drive up and down El Camino nearly every day, that's a lot of wondering. My husband and I were just discussing this when we drove by two of the taquerias in Redwood City last night. Does it mean grill? Is it a chain? You read our minds! We looked it up in our Spanish dictionary when we got home, and didn't make the leap from "la grulla" to "El Grullense," so we were still wondering. My husband opened up the latest PA Weekly this morning, and mystery solved. Thanks! Now, can you tell us where our missing socks disappear to when we do laundry? :)

I agree, the food at El Grullense is fabulous.

By the way, Emily, socks are the larval form of coat hangers. When a sock goes missing, check your closet. I suspect you'll find a bunch of unused coat hangers there.

Finally, I have found the answer to life's deep questions! I asked many people about what El Grullense meant and nobody knew. Not even the spanish teacher at the local high school. Well, worry no more! With this bit of knowledge, I am sleeping better. Thanks! Palo Alto Online!

P.S.: The irony is I don't eat any meat and I doubt if I will ever set my foot i there :)
