Don't understand rankings for north south water polo tournament. Sacred heart was beaten decisive by loyolahs hs 10-7 and agoura earlier this year, and is ranked no. 1 in their bracket???????

Take a closer look at the format. The teams are seeded 1-8 by geographic region. SHP is the 1 seed for NorCal and Mater Dei is the 1 seed for SoCal. The goal of the tournament is to have teams play at least 1 game against an opponent from the other region. So in the first round, 1 North plays 8 South, 2 North plays 7 South ... 1 South plays 8 North, etc.
Same seeding format is also used in the Memorial tournament scheduled for next weekend at Bellarmine.
