The new traffic light on Alma just west of Meadow
Palo Alto Issues, posted by VJ, a resident of the Greenmeadow neighborhood, on Sep 30, 2012 at 8:38 pm

A brand new traffic light on busy Alma street. For whom? For the potential residents of the new luxury home complex? Or for the customers of the new Starbucks at the corner? It simply does not make sense to install another set of lights so close to the Alma-Meadow intersection.

The default setting for these lights seems to be to stop the traffic on Alma. There is more waiting at this new light than any other light on Alma. So irritating to wait with an empty intersection.

Who decides these things? Who do I talk to get this fixed?

Agree, the light needs to be reprogrammed to be green for a lesser period for the cars leaving the compound. I waited a long time on Alma for that traffic light to turn green also. I was driving north and it was on Saturday with little traffic. Cars backed up to Meadow. It's going to be a nightmare on weekdays.

The City of Palo Alto has a traffic division who probably decides these things.

Three lights in a row at that end of Alma is one light too many, especially since the newest light is not in sync with the other two.

Meanwhile, further north on Alma, we wait for 10-15 minutes to turn left from a side street during the morning rush hour!!!

Someone''s head was in a place where the sun never shines!

Well, tonight , at about 7:00 pm, a Starbuck's truck blocked the outer northbound lane of Alma in order to unload his cargo into the new Starbuck's there. Totally illegal, and caused a big traffic jam.

Somewhat earlier, a crumpled car was seen being towed off of the railroad tracks at the intersection of Alma and Meadow.

What was up with both of these situations?
