how to revitalize downtown Palo Alto
Around Town, posted by goog, a resident of the Old Palo Alto neighborhood, on Aug 30, 2012 at 1:26 pm

Sergei Brin, founder of Google, is single handedly revitalizing downtown Los Altos by buying up storefront properties and renting them at cheap rates to family-friendly businesses. Story in the Wall Street Journal: Web Link

How about Palo Alto's downtown landlords stepping up the plate and doing the same before all their business moves to Los Altos?

"How about Palo Alto's downtown landlords stepping up the plate and doing the same before all their business moves to Los Altos?"

That is exactly what our downtown landlords wish for. Then so they can plead poverty, break the city ordnance requiring first-floor retail downtown, and replace all of it with high-rent offices. It's great money for those out of towners, but deadly to our downtown's vitality.

Brin is a philanthropist. Our downtown landlords are not.
