Nurturing kindness, resilience in middle school

Katherine Baker can relate to the Type A moms in Palo Alto -- she remembers having been one herself. "I wanted everything to be perfect for my child," said the principal of Terman Middle School of her daughter, now a professor in Connecticut.

Great Principal. "they don't respond to authority rather caring." That says a lot about how good teachers and managers with this philosopy are successful in middle school. Focus of middle Schools is to make decisions based on what is best for the students. Teachers at this level need to be less subject area specialists and be able to work with students. to deal with their emotional needs and problem solving skill. Once this is in place students are better motivated to be academically successful
