People should be able to go to a movie or to their place of worship without worrying about crazy gunmen. Tighten gun control now. This could not have been prevented by guns, just made worse with a shootout. When a crazy person has a gun it is the same as a suicide bomber who has no concern for his own safety. These type of events will not be prevented by more guns. Sympathies to the victims, their families and the local community. How terrible.

Resident is right the Second Amendment rights recently emphasized by the supreme court are partially to blame for this shooting. Another Civil Right that is implicated is the First Amendment. If the people had not been exercising their "right" to religious expression and peaceable assembly, this tragedy likely would not have happened. Similarly, had the police not been hampered by an extreme interpretation of the Fourth Amendment, they would have been able to conduct random searches that might have prevented the shooter from carrying out this tragic act. We would be a much safer society if we'd repeal the entire Bill of Rights.

This is another incident using a legally purchased handgun, not one using a leaglly purchased assault-type weapon. What is the common tie???
