Around Town, posted by nat, a resident of the Midtown neighborhood, on Jul 29, 2007 at 3:42 pm

Anyone know where I can either get a rattan stool repaired or buy a new one?

Tony the barber at the Charleston Barber Shop (next to Piazza's) does these types of repairs. His business number is 650-494-2987.

To "Palo Parent" Thanks for the tip. I stopped by the other day and found out that Tony does caning, not rattan repair. My stool isn't made to be caned - it doesn't have the groove or the holes in which to fit the seat. What he does is fit a caned seat into a chair which has a worn out piece of caning. What I need is a way to support the seat, which collapsed but is in good condition.

BTW, how good a barber is Tony?

Sorry about that Nat. I never knew there was a thing called "caning", first time I'd heard of that.

He is a very good barber and I have been going there for over ten years.

Palo Parent, I assume you mean he gives good haircuts to men.

How much does he charge for a man's haircut?

I'm still looking for someone to repair my rattan stool or someplace I can purchase a new one.

Nat,

Actually he cuts woman's hair too, but predominately men are his main customers. I do believe he charges $16 for a man's haircut.
