Did Mitt Romney not pay any taxes for a decade?

Mitt Romney gave John McCain 23 years of tax returns in 2008 as a veep candidate prospect. McCain then chose an unqualified unknown over Mitt - was there something in the tax returns?
Today, Senate Leader Harry Reid said:
"His father, George Romney, set the precedent that people running for president would file their tax returns, let everybody look at them," Reid said. "But Mitt Romney can't do that because he's basically paid no taxes in the prior 12 years."
UPDATE: At a press conference later in the day, Reid reportedly had more to say about Romney:
He not only couldnt be confirmed as a cabinet secretary, he couldnt be confirmed as dog catcher, Reid told reporters at a Capitol press briefing, in response to a question from TPM. Because a dog catcher, youre at least going to want to look at his income tax returns. Web Link
Did John McCain say something to harry in the senate cloak room a few years ago?
☆ Reid: "Johnny boyo, why the heck did you pick her, of all people?!?"
☆ McCain: "Harry, you old dog, I would've picked Mitt, but the dude hasn't paid taxes in years - you'd have a stroke if you saw his returns!"
Well, they chose mild mannered Harry Reid, the Casper Milquetoast, the ol' Elmer Fudd of the democrat party to throw down the gauntlet.
There it lies.
This is the election, right here, folks. Seminal moment. Release the returns Mitt, or it is over, along with any chance of taking the senate. Every day he waits is going to kill him. Sharks are in the water.
