Any advice on attending Shoreline's SF Symphony show?
Issues Beyond Palo Alto, posted by Parent, a member of the Palo Alto High School community, on Jul 5, 2012 at 2:46 pm

I plan to take my family there next year and am wondering how it works. It begins at 8:00 when it is not dark. So we sit and enjoy and then at 9:45 they play the music to the fireworks? Is it necessary to pay to have seats closer to the orchestra? What time should we depart from PA? What time do you get home?

Thanks for any feedback.

From Mountain View, leaving at 7 pm, it took us a full hour to get to the lawn. After the fireworks, we rushed to our car but it still took us over an hour to get past the Shoreline Blvd./Ampitheatre Parkway intersection (traffic was relatively smooth after that). The best way to go is bike to the venue. If you can't do that, it is unquestionably faster for most people to walk the last mile than to drive it. The fireworks occur on the "east" side of the venue, so seats (or lawn space) facing that direction will have a little better view. I don't see any reason to pay to be closer to the stage, but it depends on what you value. The concert itself is so pop-py and lightweight that full people give full attention to the music.
