Karen,
Thanks for your question.
Far be it for me to suggest what you or anyone else should think.
What I thought as I observed this video is how the people in it, who largely are our age or older, displayed behavior akin to what I have seen in some of the current videos of "Occupy" events.
I then thought about where all those folks in that San Franscico Summer of Love in 1967--45 years ago--ended up, and where our courrent "Occupy" cohort will end up.

Sharon -- Are you suggesting that "sex, drugs and rock & roll" are all terrible things that negatively influence our children and should be avoided at all costs? Without sex, you wouldn't exist. Without drugs, some people would be in pain for years. Without rock & roll -- well, let's just say the world would be a very dull place. And your comment about rap -- a broad and unfair generalization -- shows that you have probably never heard any, making a judgement about something you know nothing about (and saying sex leads to HIV/AIDS is also pretty ridiculous). Loosen up Sharon -- life doesn't have to be so uptight.

Karen -- OK, I'll bite. Why exactly do you think the kids in the video are "spoiled"? None of them look particularly wealthy to me. And I didn't see any footage of actual drug use, so why exactly do you assume they are "hooked on drugs"? Because people are dancing and having fun they must be on drugs?

OutsideObserver and Sharon paint a picture of a destroyed generation "The so called " summer of love " destroyed a generation of young kids" that they imply only OuttedObserver, Gary and Sharon survived.
Who knew?
All those 55-65 year olds that I know. Must be lying about their age, or hiding something. Geez, they look so normal. I thought they might all be dead, but the census tells us otherwise.
Who knew?
Funny thing, there were a lot of that age group, along with a lot of young kids at the Orpheum the other night. To see AMERICAN IDIOT. A great time, a great show, great music! Only nit? I didn't care for that many strobe lights at my advanced age of "55-65".
I'll leave it to others to draw the obvious conclusions regarding how the title American Idiot applies.

Because I was there, and I was one of them. Most of them were spoilt brats from upper middle class families, like me. As an adult, I now realize how naive I was. However, I did have a lot of sex...and venereal disease...and sterlity. My life was changed by the 'summer of love', for the worse.

The CDC estimates that more 3.5 million " baby boomers" have hepatitis C - but do not know that are infected.
They contracted the hepatitis C infection decades ago through unprotected sex, IV drug use, or blood transfusions from contaminated supplies.
Many of these infections lie dormant for about 20 years or more, but are just now starting to emerge over the decade to come.
The unluckiest ones will end up suffering severe liver scarring (cirrhosis), liver cancer, liver transplants, and ultimately, premature death.
The Haight district in SF was a hot zone for intravenous speed and heroin abuse.
Promiscuous sex-- which was also a key part of the movement-- destroyed many lives and bodies.
SF health department gross malpractice a few years later was directly responsible for the HIV/AIDS epidemic in which many 100,000s of Americans died horrible deaths.
The SF health department refused to close the homosexual bath houses-
-the main vectors of HIV/AIDS-and they refused to quarantine the infected vectors.
The SF " summer of love" was a plague that continues to infect our kids.
Rap music is misogynistic, promotes violence and substance abuse.

As always, ten seconds on google shows what complete lunacy the statements are by Sharon.
hep C is predominant with boomers because of events in the 80's, not the 'summer of love'. "...likely due to increased injection drug use and use of blood and blood products for transfusion, which caused hepatitis C incidence to increase steadily throughout the 1980s."
Re: Sharon's numbers "The CDC estimates that more 3.5 million " baby boomers" have hepatitis C - but do not know that are infected."
Of course, Sharon's numbers are wrong too. CDC says there are 3.2M Americans TOTAL with hep C. About 3/4 of those are boomers.

Still can't get the title song out of my head (information age of hysteria, it's calling out to idiot America, welcome to a new kind of tension, all across the alien nation.....)
Great song. If you go to San Francisco, go see the show, if the short run isn't already sold out.
