Who won the award for Best Censorship and Stifling of Free Speech? I would have thought the weekly would be competitive in that arena.
Seems that there are plenty of these type of awards being given out--wasn't there a story a few weeks back of the Weekly being showered with awards. Does not say much, IMHO, about the quality of these awards if the Weekly is winning them. ANd really-an award for a single movie review!!!! Sounds like this is all a good old boys network, where newspapers get together and shower each other with awards.

MV Voice has a FAR more uptight quelcher of opinions if they happen to be against what the mod feels.
Try commenting on any story of interest in the MV Voice. They'll lock it up to registered users so quickly it'll make your head spin, and will instantly stifling any back and forth discussions. The Mod on the Voice page only wants to read about happy things and pretty smelling flowers. I guess at the Voice, silence is better that free discussion.

"Forum gets what forum wants. It's their sandbox. No 1st Amendment need apply, nor will it."
You are correct, Bucky. But as I stated many times, I expect more from a forum run by journalists--given how journalists have been fighting for free speech issues for centuries. Very disappointing actions by the Weekly staff.

Thanks PA Weekly (and PAOnline) for keeping it clean(er) than most sites, and(more) on topic than most sites. I have also found that your reporting of local issues tends to be a little more evenhanded on both sides than most local papers...actually, most papers period.

You folks do a tremendous job for the community. Thank you for filling in the gap outside the boundaries of the Chronicle and Merc. Offering a venue to get local news is very much appreciated. I echo the comment . . . "You rock!"
