Classmates stunned by loss of vivacious Paly graduate

Hundreds gathered Saturday to remember the life of Emily Benatar, a creative and accomplished 2011 Palo Alto High School graduate who died May 9 in St. Louis, where she had been a first-year student at Washington University.

I am so sorry to hear this. Outliving a child is the worst thing any parent has to endure. I used to see Emily at Escondido, since my daughter was also in the same school (and grade).

I can't offer much to the family, except my deepest condolences, and the hope that God gives them strength to overcome their grief.

My deepest condolences to the entire Benatar family. Emily sounds like one of those kinds of people whose presence alone brought joy to those around her.
