Sounds more like a professional drug user looking for quick cash for another score. It would nonetheless be interesting to know if the lock had been cut, compromised, or if perhaps only the wheel had been locked and the thief was taking the frame and one wheel.

Professional thug is more like it. Do NOT excuse this creep's violent acts either because he is a drug addict (which is a CHOICE!). Lock this bully up and throw away the key. It sounds like the pipe in the black plasstic bag... which thug thieves are using all over our communities. Let us come together and put these thug druggie thieves out of business permanently.

My brother Craig Jordan was walking to work at Le Boulanger on Castro St in Mountain View on Saturday when he was approached by Mountain View Police and accused of an assault and attempted robbery of a bike that took place outside of Red Rock Coffee on Castro. Cj was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and supposedly "fit the description" of the attacker. Never did the police verify that Cj worked on Castro St and had reason to be walking the route he was, nor did they check the receipt in his pocket that places him at CVS prior to when the police stopped him. They asked him to remove his glasses and the alleged victim "identified" Cj. Any of u who know Cj know that he is LEGALLY BLIND without his glasses and does NOTHING and goes NOWHERE without them. How would he commit this crime blind?? Cj owns his own bike that he rides to light rail every day and locks it up and rides light rail to work. WHY would he want someone else's bike? And WHY would he attempt to steal a bike on the same street he works on? The MVPD did not do their job and verify the facts nor did the find the right person. The "victim" was most likely pressured into identifying Cj as the attacker so the police could make and arrest and look good. Please help get the facts out there and support OUR FRIEND, BROTHER, AND COUSIN CJ JORDAN by passing this on and/or posting THE FACTS if u have a Facebook.

I lump all these drug (meth and heroin) addicts and thieves together. Do not excuse their behavior! They need the book thrown at them. They are a big problem... I hate it when they blame it on the drugs. They are narcissists who think they are entitled to other people's property and normally were thieves before they did drugs. It is the pattern.

Again, entitlement. People feeling entitled to appropriate the property of others for their own use. Disgusting. And, don't start this crap about 'hoodies.' Everybody I know owns a hoodie, whether it's a Paly parent or a 13 year old teenager. Trying to start another 'do' rag debate?

Drug addiction is pretty scary. I realize people do have a choice, but in the throes of addiction, when one physically needs the drug, is when choice goes out the window. If you're going to say "throw the book at them" I hope the book includes recovery support and not incarceration. We can't afford to put addicts in our overcrowded jails without first making first time offenders go through mandatory recovery with consquences that really matter if they "choose" to blow off their sobriety.
Please don't lump all of these drug addicts in with hardened criminals. It's very short-sighted and misinformed.

The way people look and dress is how they will be perceived. Look like a hood = be treated like a hood. It's sounds all wonderful to believe that everyone will be treated equally based upon their inner beauty, but it's not real life. Oprah, Tiger Woods still face racism, despite their success. People still try to oppress Asians and other ethnicities too. Even someone who appears as white trash won't get much respect if they walk into an expensive clothing store.

My brother has been fighting a methamphetamine addiction for many years, but has been trying to turn his life around and has been going to work EVERY DAY for 8 months straight at 5 Guys and Le Boulanger. He did have a small amount of the drug on him at the time of his arrest, but he is an addict NOT a violent offender or thief! His addiction should not discredit the truth. The media needs to please get their facts straight before bashing my brother and slandering his name!
