Palo Alto Utilities Department is considering constructing a distribution line between SLAC and Palo Alto's electricity distribution system that would provide a backup source of power to both Palo Alto and SLAC and that would also serve Stanford. Cost estimates presented to the Utilities Advisory Commission have never shown whether SLAC (U.S. Department of Energy) and Stanford University would share equally in the cost of that distribution line.
