bike to school day?

I noticed that today is "bike to school day" in San Francisco: Web Link

Schools have special program to encourage kids to start biking to school regularly. Why doesn't Palo Alto participate in this?

It will be on April 25th, 2012, in Palo Alto this year, in conjunction with Earth Day. There is a least one of these events each year, and it has been so for years.
