Palo Alto gets new top district attorney
Issues Beyond Palo Alto, posted by Editor, Palo Alto Online, on Feb 24, 2012 at 10:44 am

The doorknob tag on Supervising Deputy District Attorney Cindy Hendrickson's office displays an image of the Three Stooges -- Moe, Larry and Curly -- in prison garb. "Warning: Occupants are lifers with nothing to lose," it reads. That perspective could sum up Hendrickson's dedication to her job.

So what is her won/loss ratio, while at the DA's Office?

How many of her cases have been overturned on Appeal?

Have any complaints been filed against her for any reason?

What do the Public Defenders have to say about her?

This article is really long, and doesn't really give us a full picture of this attorney.

What a wonderful article! So many facets to glean about the person behind the profile, tidbits of information giving a reader a more balanced perspective of the person and the job.

"Top Prosecuting District Attorney in PA". Sounds intimidating. And to people up to no good: this savvy person is one to be FEARED.

But to law-abiding, upstanding citizens, and the vulnerable 96 year-old senior citizens among us -- would there be more people like Cindy Hendrickson! Thank you, Sue, for writing this - great work!

Is this poster for real? Prosecutors are intended to provide justice, not fear, in the minds of the public.

And given that the current DA ran on a platform claiming that the former DA was not ethical (although he stopped short of calling her corrupt), one can only wonder where the tone of "ethics" is in the current Santa Clara County DA's office, or how this Attorney is bring a higher sense of ethics to the office than anyone who preceded her?

Puff piece. She doesn't work for PALO ALTO; she works for the county. Her record reflects little about Palo Alto, but much about county-wide issues.

@Joe- the last sentence in the post to which you object reads:

"But to law-abiding, upstanding citizens, and the vulnerable 96 year-old senior citizens among us -- would there be more people like Cindy Hendrickson!"

So law abiding citizens have nothing to fear. You are correct, sir.

@Hmmm - the courthouse is located IN Palo Alto. People that go there on business, or for jury duty, would perhaps know this person, or workers from numerous attorney offices in Palo Alto would know her.

This is a great human interest story. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Is it possible for more people in Palo Alto to say something kind about each other, even every once in a while, or just be grateful to someone, for something?

Yeah, I know where the north county courthouse is. That doesn't mean she works for PALO ALTO; it means she works for the county. Palo Alto-centric stories like these serve to bloat the already overblown sense of self-importance in Palo Alto. I've watched this over the years & it's ridiculous. I have plenty of gratitude & kindness, but I don't waste these qualities on comments that serve to further bloat the town's smugness. I know the courthouse from victim's advocate work I've done throughout the years, which is a better use of my kindness & gratitude.
