US Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood, formerly a Republican Congress Member from Illnois, is in California this week, promoting the High Speed Rail project in this state.
His "pitch" in an event in Fresno the other day was this was a job creating project, and that CA HSR would be a model for how HSR can work in the rest of the country.
My understanding is the the Kern County supervisors voted to oppose breaking ground on the HSR project, which is scheduled to take place within the next year.
I have spent time in DC for business, pleasure and to deal with US government officials over the years. I kept my straw at home, and never drank the Potomoc River water.
I am simply appalled that LaHood came out here and acted like a cheerleader for such a flawed project. Emphasis on "cheer," not "leader."
And Anna Eshoo is not doing a good job of getting this thing killed. Nor is cheapskate Jerry Brown. Boxer and Feinstein-AWOL.
I have expressed on numerous postings my thoughts about this matter. What I don't get is how out of touch a fine person like LaHood seems to be about how flawed this particular HSR concept is.
Got a straw? I have some excellent Potomoc drinking water that you will enjoy tremendously. And it will help you with your judgment.
