Welcoming the year of the dragon

For many of Chinese descent, the Chinese New Year is the most important holiday of the year -- a bit like Christmas and New Year's Eve rolled into one. Festivities for the holiday last two weeks, from the first new moon to the first full moon (from Jan. 23 to Feb. 6 this year). Photos by Veronica Weber/Palo Alto Online.

If the city wants to celebrate the Lunar New Year, how about making it a school holiday?
