Why was my post about Al Zawahari removed? Issues Beyond Palo Alto, posted by Resident, a resident of Another Palo Alto neighborhood, on Jul 10, 2007 at 3:58 pm
Please explain why you have twice removed my post about the Al Zawahari tape. I kept a copy of my post this time, and I want to understand what your reasoning is so I can post in an acceptable manner.
It is incomprehensible to me that you remove these threads with no explanation, especially when I have been paying attention for one year and followed all the "rules" I have been able to figure out from what you have deleted and what you have left. You leave diatribes with horrific name calling and slurs and supposedly factual "stories" with no links for supporting data...yet delete my post with no name calling and a link given to support my opinion.

Tyler: yes, I read and re-read that thread before posting. I must be dense, because i don't see how this was a resurrected topic ( it was a new tape with new evidence) and it is continually current because of congress and their almost weekly bringing it up. It didn't flame, it gave an opinion based on new data, and ( in my opinion) was as respectfully done as possible given the fact that it is by someone who has vowed to destroy America.
the only thing that was true about it was that it IS a Middle East topic. So, if your point is to stop all Middel East topics, then i get it.
It feels, to me, more like dampening news.
Walter, you clearly did not see the thread either time. I suspect you would agree with what I wrote. Check out the thread about July 4th fizzling and you will see what I am talking about.
But, I wasn't looking for either agreement or disagreement. I was expressing frustration at the almost total lack of awareness of the tapes released by Al Zawahari, and their meaning.
An honest discussion and exchange of ideas about these tapes would be good, but I tend to agree that it would unlikely happen in this forum. I posted just to increase awareness in an area which seems, to me, to be pretty unaware.

I am neither a Jew nor a Christian. I am an agnostic. I was raised as a nominal Catholic, but I gave that up when I was 12 years old. So your religious bias will not work on me.
Radical (fundamentalist) Islam attacked the U.S. on 9/11 (and before). I have nothing to apologize about. It is a fact.
Why not just put the facts out there, then debate them? I am quite willing to debate with you about Al Zawahiri's views, IF this thread is put back up, from the beginning. It is a very important issue - in fact, it is one of the most important debates in the last decade.
I hope you would join me in requesting that the Weekly actually take on real, and controversial issues, like this one.

Actually, this is the sort of thing I would love to see happen. I would love to see posts from everyone to support their stances. For example, Ferragamo could give me a link to someone who is translating the video differently, and then I could figure out which translation I trust more. That sort of thing.
I really like links to actual sources, like videos by the leaders he claims to have said this or that..to support his stances. I try to always back up my claims with links, I would love it if we all did that for each other. I have an open mind, if someone can show me where I am in error, I am free to change me mind.
I don't trust anyone to interpret a story for me, much preferring the source.
Maybe we could have a "footnoted" thread, whereby every opinion needs to be backed by a link to a source? I am not being facetious, I would love it.
That would stop a lot of the junk that gets said..can't source calling names, for example. can source certain statements or actions from various folks.

Dr Ferragomo--would you care to provide any proof that Zionist Jews attacked the US on 9/11.
I find it hard to believe that anyone would actually believe that story!!! It appears, according to some, people that the jews are behind every disaster and case of malfeasance in the world. the jews make a handy scapegoat for you and your ilk. Very sad, indeed.
As we all know muslim extremists led by AlQeida and Osama Bin Laden were behind 9/11. That is clear to the majority of the civil world. the jews didn't do it--get over it--I know you are disappointed.
I noticed that your posts, in your various incarnations/disguises, make hateful comments against Israel/Jews. However you seem to get your knickers in a twist when someone makes a critical, not necessarily a hateful comment, about Muslims.
