Is anyone at PAUSD watching Apple say goodbye to text books! Schools & Kids, posted by Resident, a resident of Another Palo Alto neighborhood, on Jan 19, 2012 at 5:29 pm
We have been talking about it for some time, but has anyone at Churchill been paying attention?
We have double textbooks in our schools, so does this mean that we will now be issuing each student an IPad? Is this going to be the norm and how soon? Also, what will Nook and Kindle do? Who will win? we don't want BETA or Palm Pilot, we want to pick the winner in the first choice.
At the same time, we don't want to be the last horse in the race.

Android and other operating systems are more appropriate and cheaper. The Apple closed OS brings little to the game, at a premium price. In job lots, you can get tablets for the price of a couple of textbooks.

Resident, the first thing to do is stay calm, and then carry on. This situation will eventually sort itself out...we're in early days. No sense getting your knickers all twisted just yet.
