Facebook has lots of friends at Menlo hearing
Restaurants, posted by Editor, Palo Alto Online, on Jan 11, 2012 at 10:48 am

Facebook is good at making friends. That much was clear at a public hearing Monday night on an environmental report on Facebook's plans for its Menlo Park headquarters. Related story:

45% of Facebook employees paid below median income? Doesn't that sound extremely unlikely, given the nature of this business? Surely they don't have lots of hourly employees in low skill jobs?

Perhaps Facebook is trying to give itself a facelift. I once attempted to apply for a job there but couldn't get past their drop-down dialog box that forced me to enter a year of graduation date. Unfortunately, the years stopped at 1980... so much for EOE at Facebook. I believe that's changed--that is, the drop-down dialog box no longer exists on their online application site, but I do wonder how Facebook feels about job candidates older than 50 or if any unemployed person over 50 in that training program will ever be offered anything by Facebook.

Facebook does have some employees over age 50, working in the cafeteria or as janitors.

Of course they have employees making below median. What do you thInk- that they're highly compensated, 100%? I know managers there who can't afford to buy around here. They also have plenty of lower comped professionals, such as admins & marketeers.

What is the median income for east Menlo Park? Or did they include Atherton in that calculation?

Facebook is a bunch of cocky 20 somethings......we will see how cocky they are when they fold......they are currently under investigation for privacy infringement. Bite me Facebook!

Didn't one of our former mayors go to work for Facebook as an attorney? If so, she was definitely over 50.
