Sports, posted by Editor, Palo Alto Online, on Oct 21, 2011 at 3:45 pm

This is the most retarded decision that committee could make. To adopt the new format is one thing, but to put it into play instantly is beyond reason. They could have at least given the teams and coaches a regular season to adapt to it. As it is, confusion will reign, as well as disappointment and anger (rightly so) from players whose roles will now be greatly diminished through no fault of their own. And as for the one committee member who thought this would speed matches up? That would only be the case if a 4/3 format match averaged more than 2.7 sets per match, which is almost unheard of. This is what happens when administrators take the decision making away from those who will be dealing with the situation, and keep it in the hands of those who won't.
