I thought it was strange I didn't smell smoke (I even took a walk in the early evening of the fire) until last night. The house filled with smoke around midnight making it hard to sleep. We have an Eichler and the atrium smells dreadful. I drove by the site today and it was unnerving to see the blackened areas. Too close for comfort, maybe half a mile from my house.

My admiration for our firefighters and those fighting the terrible Lake Tahoe blaze is boundless. These amazing and brave heroes should be paid a fortune!
