Stapp replaces Horpel as Gunn's athletic director

Gunn High girls' basketball coach Sarah Stapp, 37, has a new job description -- athletic director. "She is a professional in every sense of the word," said outgoing AD Chris Horpel, "and I believe she will bring that same professionalism in her new role as AD."

Kudos to Chris for the terrific job he did as Gunn's athletic director. As a coach at Gunn, I knew he had a fair view of our program and was very supportive of our goals. Having coached at several schools in the area over the last decade and a half, I thought Chris was an excellent AD, and it seemed to me that he treated all the fall sports fairly.

I look forward to working with Sarah, and to the facilities improvements that are in the works.
