Palo Alto boys bring out the big guns for shot at De Anza Division track and field title

Maurice Williams learned how to triple jump only last season, when he took the event by storm -- despite his inexperience -- and leaped 46-1 1/2 to finish second at the Central Coast Section championships and earn a berth in the CIF State Meet. This season hasn't been as sensational, but it's not over yet.

Great article with good meet coverage. Some additional top CCS mentions: Paly Senior Grant Sauer is currently 2nd in the CCS in the 110 meter high hurdles (14.81) while Los Altos Junior Markell Stine is 3rd in the CCS in that event (14.88) and also 8th in the 300 meter hurdles (41.01). Paly Sophomore Victor Du is tied for 5th in the CCS high jump (6'2"). Gunn's Kirsten Baird is 5th in the CCS in the high jump (5'3"), while her team mate Julia Maggioncalda is tied for 6th (5'2").
