Are you Prepared?
Palo Alto Issues, posted by Annette, a resident of the Midtown neighborhood, on Jun 22, 2006 at 9:58 am

I would like to hear from you! Are you prepared for an emergency? If so, what special tips can you share? If not, What is stopping you? and what can the neighborhood leaders do to help? Thanks, Annette

As a medical volunteer in Katrina relief and a recent PANDA graduate (palo alto's CERT) I feel like even though I am prepared, I'm very concerned for my neighborhood. I don't think they're prepared, and PAN could help by encouraging the development of Block Captains, or at least encourage each neighbor know the emergency contact information and level of preparedness of their immediate next door and across-the-street neighbors.

Hi Enoch

Thanks for your note. The Palo Alto Neighborhoods (PAN) will shortly annouce 3 city wide trainings for block captains. We plan on a general meeting in Midtown on July 18th: Police CHief Johnson will give us an overview of crime and then Susie Jones of the Police Deaprtment will talk about building a neighborhood network of block captains. We are workig on dates/places for the 2 other sessions!
