Tornados do happen here - the last one in March 1998. A church and homes and stores were damaged in Sunnyvale. Palo Alto was pelted with heavy hail and wind and rain. There was another in 1951 in what is now Cupertino and Sunnyvale areas. Mostly orchards then. But there was damage. And this coming Sunday there are predictions of a big storm.
